Welcome back everyone to our end of Term 3 newsletter. This term has been jam-packed with many fun learning experiences for all!
During Term 3 in Numeracy, students have been focusing on addition and subtraction strategies such as count on, count back, doubles facts, friends of ten, difference between and learning how to use number lines to help us count in the most efficient way.
During Term 3 in Literacy, students explored different comprehension strategies such as inferring, visualising, questioning and critiquing. Students were able to explore a range of fables and the text features of a fable. Using their knowledge of fables, students were encouraged to retell or write a fable in their own words, with a focus moral or lesson. Students also explored the Stages of Writing by referring to each stage during their writing process.
During Term Three in Inquiry, students explored the unit ‘When Grandma Was a Girl’. Students explored the ways family life has changed over time and how childhood is different from now to then. They participated in a range of experiences including playing games from the past such as hopscotch, marbles, skipping and using hula hoops. Students attended an excursion to Bundoora Park Heritage Village. They were able to take a step back in time and experience what school and home life was like in the past.
