Italian

Term 3 has been very productive and enjoyable in Italian.

Prep students have further developed their confidence in speaking and listening to Italian through stories, role-plays and learning activities. Students enjoyed the classic Italian tale of Pinocchio through storytelling and songs. Each student made their very own Pinocchio puppet. Students also learned the names of animals in Italian through books such 'La vecchietta che ingoio una mosca' and 'Faccio come te'. They also expanded their numeracy in Italian by learning to count to twenty through songs and learning activities.

During term 3 in Italian, the emphasis for year 6 was on listening, and oral and written communication. Students learned to communicate verbally by listening to pre-recorded conversations. Students also continued to use greetings and ask and respond to questions about themselves. Our focus on the family gave students a greater understanding of ways of describing physical appearance and nouns relating to the family and their environment. They also learned how to express likes and dislikes in Italian and about Italian food.
