Next week is eSmart Week - check out what the Level 3 students will be covering on our eSmart page.
Hello Year 3 and 4 Parents!
We are coming to the end of another busy week in Level 3 and heading into the last 2 weeks of Term 3. Please enjoy reading about the activities and learning the students have been involved in over the last 2 weeks and the important dates to be aware of for the remainder of this term.
Book Week
Last week, the students had a lovely time dressing up as a book character for our annual Book Week Parade. Even the teachers joined in, using the book series "Little People, Big Dreams" for inspiration. Have a look at some of the great costumes the students put together. Thank you for supporting your child to enjoy this day.
During the week the students attended an incursion with author Morris Gleitzman in which they learnt some wonderful strategies for creating an engaging Narrative. They also completed Book Week activities in class, such as poetry writing and creating a poster about an Australian that deserved a 'Little People, Big Dreams' book made about them.
In the classroom in Week 8
This week, the Grade 3 students planted Marigold seeds so that they could write a procedural text in the coming weeks explaining what they did.
“We put our seeds in the sunlight so they can get lots of sunshine” – Alytheia
“We will water them regularly so they can grow well” – Grace
“I think the one closer to the window will grow taller than the one further from the window” – Ali
“We planted some seeds for our procedural writing” – Fiona
“This was the best lesson ever!!” – Anish
The students experimented with paper plane designs this week for Inquiry.
"I learnt how to fold a paper plane" - Amy
"I got to make paper planes and measure to see how well it flew" - Noa
"It was frustrating when my design didn't work well" - Cooper
"Making a shorter plane increased my distance as it had less weight" - Shivam
Child Safety Week
Week 9 at VPS is Child Safety Week. An email was sent home last week outlining the lessons that the students will be involved in. As part of Child Safety Week, VPS have a dress up day on Tuesday 6th September. Students are asked to wear BRIGHT-COLOURED clothes to school so they can be easily seen and stay safe.
