Dear Level 2 parents,

It's been an extremely busy fortnight! Students have loved all the exciting events we have had. It was wonderful to see them all dressed up and involved in the Book Week Parade last Monday. Students also braved the cold and wet weather at the Edithvale-Seaford Wetlands to observe different birds and their behaviours and learn more about the Water Cycle and the environmental effects of our waste when incorrectly disposed of. A big thank you to our amazing parent helpers who attended the excursion for your support.

Book Week Incursion

Students thoroughly enjoyed their Book Week incursion with author Bec Filliponi and illustrator Julie Gebbing. Each group collaboratively wrote a story and students each contributed drawings which will be published into a picture story book!

Vermont Primary Longest Coin Line Challenge:    Lay It On The Line for Endangered Animals!

On Wednesday the 7th September the Student Representative Council are holding a fundraising event to raise money for endangered animals. All students need to come to school dressed in their house colours and bring a gold coin to lay in their house's coin line. Which house will create the longest line?!

Parent Teacher Meetings

This Term we have made the decision to offer the Parent Teacher Interviews with face to face meetings OR having the option to access an online Zoom meeting. At these meetings, you will have the opportunity to discuss how your child is progressing academically, socially and behaviourally.

These meetings will be held during the last week of Term from Monday 12th to Thursday 15th September. The teachers will be setting their own availability within the window of 8am to 8pm on the Monday and 8am to 8pm on the Tuesday. There will also be additional options highlighted on Sentral where the Classroom Teachers will indicate when they are available. You can find more information in the email that was sent to you in week 7, but please remember:

  • Book a meeting on Sentral before the system closes on Wednesday 7th September.
  • Email your child's teacher if your meeting preference is online so they can send you a Zoom link to access.
  • Both ‘online’ and ‘in person’ meetings are limited to 15 minutes only.

Footsteps

In Term 4, children in Foundation, Grade One and Grade Two will be attending five “Footsteps” dance classes for 45 minutes to an hour on a Wednesday from Week 3 onwards.

The course is part of the school dance curriculum and is designed to provide students with an insight into traditional forms of dance, whilst also developing their social skills, confidence and physical fitness. The starting point for dance learning is ‘everyday movements’. Students learn about dancing safely and become aware of their bodies’ movement capabilities. They explore movement possibilities using space, time, dynamics and relationships.

Classes will be held in the Stadium and the cost per student will be $16.50. All payments are on Qkr and by completing the payment you are consenting to your child attending the program. Please complete the payment by 12th October. If you are experiencing difficulty, please let your classroom teacher know.
