VCE Studio Arts Excursion

Last week, VCE Studio Arts students took an excursion to the La Trobe Arts Institute (LAI) and Bendigo Art Gallery to view exhibitions and develop their learning of exhibition design & curatorial considerations.

The day began with a lecture presentation in LAI on the methods and considerations used by artists and curators in relation to specific exhibitions and looking at artworks installed in the two galleries. Students viewed the exhibition ‘Personal Mythologies’ at LAI, (which runs until the 16 October) making connections to this thematic group exhibition, that explores the role of fantasy and imagination in our own constructions of self and relationships to place and history.

Students then listened to curator, Emma Busowsky, speak about the biennial Paul Guest drawing prize before viewing the works at Bendigo Art Gallery. Valuable insights into the preparation and presentation of artworks were a highlight of the day.

Thanks to all those who attended and represented our College so well.
