Principal's Report

Jonathan Rowe

Dear Parents and Carers,

This term has certainly felt busier than I remember, and I think we are all looking forward to a well deserved break. I am very pleased to say we have been able to offer all of the rich experiences, as well as learning and teaching, that add to our community and culture.

Student Captains and Vice Captains for 2023

Our Year 11’s have courageously put themselves forward for student leadership roles. This is a time of growth and vulnerability for these young people. It is exciting that these genuine and caring senior students see that they have great things to offer the student leadership of this College, and I thank them for their preparation and courage. I am excited to announce our College Captains for 2023 are Klay Collins and Harry Hein, our Vice Captains are Charlotte Cook and Marcus Matuschka. They are outstanding young men and women who will represent our School with humility, compassion, and love.

Year 12 Students

Students completing Unit 4 subjects will require your support in completing School Assessed Coursework and to prepare for their upcoming trial exams. We are in the last stages of our senior school learning journey. Help your son or daughter to 'keep their eye on the prize.' Now is the time to ease the family pressure of chores and part-time working hours. Today is the beginning of the last 100 metres, so carefully support your child in the last phase of Unit 4.

Middle School Coordinator Appointment

I am delighted to announce Mr. Nathan Ough has agreed to take up the role of Middle School Coordinator in 2023. Mr. Ough joined Monivae this year and is looking forward to taking on a leadership role at the school. He will be a great role model got our Year 8 and 9 cohort.

Student Services

Mrs. Jeannie Smith has resigned her position as our Counsellor to focus on her family. Mrs. Smith was a member of our community for the last 4 and a half years. She has made some wonderful connections and memories that she will cherish.

Cadet Ceremonial Parade – Sunday 23 October

This year marks the 60th Cadet parade at Monivae. A remarkable achievement. I would like to remind all families of the importance of this day and that it is also a compulsory school day. Rolls will be taken and any student who is absent will be required to attend school on Monday 31 October.

We conclude this week and the term with our Mission Fair Day after an absence due to Covid. Joining us this year were 14 Student Leaders from Chevalier College Bowral, the Principal, Mr. Chris McDermott, Fr John Mulrooney and Mr Ross Webster, a parent of one of the student leaders. We were extremely excited to host this group as they were so welcoming to our students earlier in the year. We are hopeful this exchange can become a permanent fixture in the years to come.

This month is the Season of Creation. The Theme for the Season of Creation 2022 is “Listen to the Voice of Creation”. The Season of Creation is a month that brings together people from different Churches to attend to the Environment. It invites us to listen to the cry of the environment and to reflect on what we must do as individuals, as citizens, workplaces, nations, and as the world community to address the urgent threat of global warming.

Care for our environment is not one single aspect of our lives. It embraces all aspects of our lives.

I wish you a peaceful and safe break.

May God who established the dance of creation,

Who marvelled at the lilies of the field,

Who transforms chaos to order,

Lead us to transform our lives and the Church, to listen to the voice of all creation,

That reflects God's glory.

Amen
