Champion

Jemma Finning- National Football Champion

Jemma Finning in Year 9 was selected to be part of the Victorian 15 years Girls Football team, for the second year running. This was determined by a selection process that was held in Melbourne over numerous weeks and included many other girls from across the state.

After being selected Jemma travelled to Perth in July to participate in the National Championships.

The first game was against Northern Territory and this was an easy win for team Victoria. Jemma kicked six goals for the game.

The next games were against Queensland, New South Wales and South Australia. These were again all easy wins for Team Victoria.

After a busy week of playing every day and exploring what Perth had to offer, Team Vic were in the grand final against NSW. This was history in the making as it was the first year NSW had been in a final.  Team Victoria crushed NSW’s hopes and won the grand final 44-0.

Not only was Jemma a part of the winning team at a national level, but she also had great individual success.

At the end of the competition Jemma was Victoria’s leading goal kicker for the competition. She won the most improved player for Victoria, and was also named in the All Australian team as a full forward.

These were all fantastic achievements by Jemma and CSC is very proud of her efforts.
