Dear Parents

The beginning of Term Three is always a particularly busy time of the school year at CSC, and this year has been no different. During the first half of this term we have already:

  • Held subject selection information sessions for parents and students
  • Undertaken a subject selection interviews for 2018
  • Completed the Year 10 Work Experience week
  • Hosted a group of 80 Japanese visitors for a week
  • Held “experience days” for Grade 6 students and information evenings for their parents
  • Led two major student leadership training days
  • Started final preparations of our 2018 School Musical, “Little Shop of Horrors.”

I thank everyone who has contributed to the success of these events. All of this has been occurring while major building works continue at our Blakeley Road Campus. In recent weeks it has been very exciting to see the steel framework for our new Performing Arts centre being erected. This building is still on schedule to be completed by the end of this year and will be fully operational from the beginning of the 2018 school year.

A particularly challenging issue that parents often ask us about is how to safely manage teenage parties and how we can assist in ensuring consistent communication between parents of students at CSC. To this end, I strongly recommend that parents of teenagers are familiar with the resources available through the Australian Drug and Alcohol Foundation website (see https://adf.org.au/home/family/teenagers/safe-partying/ ). Above all, I urge our parents to check the details of who will be supervising parties their children have been invited to attend and how the party will be managed.

Regards

Parent Opinion Survey 2017

WE WANT OUR PARENTS TO TELL US WHAT THEY THINK

Our school is conducting a survey to find out what parents think of our school. The Parent Opinion Survey is an annual survey offered by the Department of Education and Training that is conducted amongst a sample of randomly selected parents at each school.

Families have already been sent a link to the survey if they were selected and we request that all surveys be completed by 27th August

It is designed to assist our school in gaining an understanding of parents’ perception of school climate, student engagement and relationships with our parent community. Our school will use the survey results to help inform and direct future school planning and improvement strategies.

The survey will be conducted online by ORIMA Research Pty Ltd and only takes 15 minutes to complete. The survey can be accessed via desktop computer, laptop, tablet or mobile at any convenient time within the fieldwork period from Monday 7th August to Sunday 27th August.

Approximately 30 per cent of parents will be invited to participate in this year’s survey. All responses to the survey are anonymous.

The survey results will be reported back to our school at the end of September. For further information, please speak to you child’s teacher or visit: http://www.education.vic.gov.au/school/teachers/management/improvement/Pages/performsurveyparent.aspx

The card needs to be completed and returned to the school General Office as soon as possible.

The card needs to be completed and returned even if your child is NOT to receive the vaccination.
