Soccer Updates

Year 9 & 10 Soccer

The intermediate boys soccer team went out on Wednesday, the 9th of May, to represent the school in the Western Ranges division.

Years 9 and 10 boys played their first game against Bacchus Marsh winning the game 5-1. In the first half of the match, the boys played well against a seeming tough opposition ending the first half 2-1 with a majority of possession of the ball. The second saw the boys take off and dominate the opposing team sending home three more goals to solidify their place in the next game.

In their second match, the Staughton team were up against Melton who provided a real challenge. The boys played great defense to maintain a nil all game across both halves. The boys played a great game in keeping the strong Melton offence at bay and managing a couple of scoring opportunities against an equally strong defense. In the end, it came down to a penalty shootout where the tried their hardest but were bested with a final score of 4-5.

A huge thank you to Mr. Peron for taking the boys out on the day and being a fantastic lines man.

Year 8 Boys Soccer

Monday saw the Year 8 boys Staughton soccer team play in the first rounds of competition. The boys had a fantastic day winning all three of their pool games and going on to win the Final easily. The players for Staughton represented the College with outstanding sportsmanship and teamwork. It was great to see these students make the most of the chance to represent their school at the same time develop valuable interpersonal skills. The next stage of the competition will be held late in the term and we wish them all the best of luck. Thank you to Zeke Mangan and Joel Mitchener from Year 10 for coming along to support coaching and refereeing for the day.
