Uniform

Uniform

In the words of George R R Martin; ”Winter is coming…” As the cooler weather approaches, we would like to take this opportunity to remind the college community of our uniform shop hours in order to secure your winter warmers. Our uniform shop is open Monday 8:00 am to 10:00 am and Thursday 3:00 pm to 5:00 pm.

To assist in warming students, we added a non compulsory jacket to our uniform offerings last year. The jacket is fleece lined, and is wind and water resistent. It has a ‘tuck away’ hood (if you don’t mind ‘hood brushed hair’) and the main zip is hidden behind a fly that can also be closed. There is also some stylish white piping accenting the shape, for the more fashion conscientious amongst us. We have even provided the luxury of 2 front pockets with zip closures to keep the hands warm and a smaller pocket located near the left upper chest.

We couldn’t let an article on uniform go to print without reminding everyone about the policy, why we have one, and the response we use to implement or enforce it. We take pride in our students and promoting an inclusive learning environment. When worn correctly, the college uniform symbolises pride in being part of our school community. Our uniform and student behaviour continue to uphold our reputation of achievement amongst the wider community. We want to take this opportunity to thank parents and guardians, for supporting us in ensuring compliance with Staughton College’s uniform policy. Whilst at school, including the movement to and from school, it is expected that students correctly wear the full school uniform.

Breaches of the uniform can include (but are not limited to):

  • Incorrect shoes (Including sports shoes being worn in the wrong areas)
  • Incorrect hosiery (Black leggings, black/blue stockings rather than navy blue opaque tights & coloured socks rather than white)
  • Incorrectly wearing school uniform items
  • Hooded garments
  • Visible undergarments
  • Non-Staughton branded school pants/shorts/shirts
  • Non-Staughton branded head wear such as hats and beanies
  • Non-Staughton branded scarves
  • Staughton Navy Fleece Jacket (now replaced by a Staughton soft shell jacket)

The Student Operation Team and staff understand that there may be some rare instances when it is not possible for a student to wear part of their full school uniform.

Our staged response allows for appropriate management of each incident, and recognition of open communication between school and home. Students requiring a Uniform Pass are to report to the Coordinator’s Office before 9:00 am, accompanied by a note with the reason for being out of uniform and when this will be corrected. Please contact your relevant Year Level Co-ordinator regarding any concerns.

Students seen in non-uniform items without a valid Uniform Pass will have that item confiscated for the remainder of the day. Students consistently presenting in incorrect uniform will go through the Uniform Process and will be unable to return to school until the correct uniform has been sourced and complied with.

The Student Operation Team believes strongly that wearing the full school uniform improves school safety and creates a sense of belonging. We thank you again, for your support.
