From the Chaplain

Christmas Message 2016
We wish you a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year was sung on our final day of school today. As a school in the Christian tradition, we also acknowledge that we are a community of people from a multitude of faiths and cultures.
Having recently travelled to Israel and seen some of the biblical sights, I realised that God’s love for humanity is not dependent on seeing a place or sight. At Bethlehem, we followed the signs from an underground bus park to a church complex where five different Christian churches all claimed to mark the spot where Jesus may have been born. The two-hour-long queue led us to believe that what we were looking for was not a concrete star on the floor of an old building, but rather a glimpse of hope, peace, joy and love - the core Christmas values.
Jesus was born in poverty in an animal shelter to a young unmarried woman who was away from home. The story of Jesus is one where we find a glimpse of hope, peace, joy and love, even in situations of fear, loneliness, pain and suffering.
May you find a glimpse of God in the hope, peace, joy and love that you experience and share with others over this Christmas season.
