WILLUNGA WALDORF SCHOOL ORCHESTRA VISIT
Willunga Waldorf School Orchestra from South Australia visited Collingwood Colllege for a day of music workshops and a performance in the Theatre at the end of the day.
Willunga students were joined by Collingwood College Senior Orchestra students, Year 10 Music Elective students, a number of students in year 7 and students from Thornbury Primary School.
Under the guidance of Allye Sinclair from Willunga and our teachers Caitlin French and Alison McKean, students rehearsed a number of pieces during the morning. In the afternoon, we moved to the Theatre where each of the three school orchestras performed for each other and the Year 10 students performed a song they composed themselves. Finally, the whole group joined into one very large orchestra to perform 3 pieces together.
It was a wonderful for students to experience playing in such a large group and working with musicians they had only just met.
All the students involved made a fantastic effort not only in their playing, but also by being graceful hosts to our visitors and willing helpers in the set-up and pack-up which made for a smooth and enjoyable day. A huge thank-you to all involved.

SAN FRANCISCO WALDORF HIGH SCHOOL EURYTHMY TOUR - REQUEST FOR BILLETS
Dear Collingwood Community,
We are excited to announce San Francisco Waldorf High School's Eurythmy Troupe's performance at Collingwood College on 19th & 20th February, 2020. They toured Korea this year, and next year they are touring Australia (Sydney at Glenaeon and Melbourne at Collingwood College).
As we are expecting 28 students from Year 10-12, we would like our community to host them on the 18th (arrival from Sydney) and the 19th. They are well-mannered students with love for Eurythmy. If you can host a student (or two, or more!), please contact Rie at rossy.rie.r@edumail.vic.gov.au
We sincerely ask for your support for this performance to become one of the most memorable events for Collingwood College.
Best regards,
Steiner College of Teachers

CONGRATULATIONS LILY GRAY
Big congratulations to Year 10 student, Lily Gray, who recently completed her Grade 3, AMEB Piano exam to a very high standard, achieving a Credit.
A Collingwood student since prep, Lily has had piano lessons with school piano teacher, Chris Doquile, since late primary, and has excelled at her instrument through dedication to practice and hard work. When asked of what it takes to excel at a chosen pursuit, Lily replied "perseverance".

STEM IN SCHOOLS DAY
On Wednesday, 30th October, Collingwood College participated in the CSIRO's STEM in Schools day. Some of our Year 9 and 10 students had the opportunity to hear from Mr Adam Bandt, Dr Alfred Ardevol Grau and Andrew Stammer about the need for STEM in solving future and current problems. The students also got some great answers to their questions and got to explore the converging of ethics and AI technology in self-driving cars.
Mr Adam Bandt is the Federal representative for the seat of Melbourne.
Dr Alfred Ardevol Grau is a research scientist with the Biocatalysis & Synthetic Biology team at the CSIRO and has been working on developing an enzyme to break down plastic.
Andrew Stammer is the head of CSIRO publishing.
