My goodness! It is hard to believe that we are only days away from Term 1 finishing. I guess the saying, ‘time flies when you’re having fun’ is true!
We have split our time both inside and outside with there being a lot of student-driven activities on display.
Inside has seen the children continue to develop their healthy cooking skills with some delicious Nachos being whipped up as well as one of our favourites here at ASC … fruit smoothies! It was great to see the children taking ownership over their cooking and showing a great deal of independence!
As always we explored the elements and interactions of the world around us in our science activities. We put our design skills to the test to see if we could safely transport an egg from the highest point of the new playground to the floor beneath. This also tested the students’ problem solving skills and their ability to communicate effectively with others. I am very proud to announce that all groups could achieve the goal! Shlok, Agastya and Daniel were standouts, with their device making the journey over ten times!
The students continued to test their accuracy whilst playing and designing their own ‘Glow In the Dark Bowling’ and a version of ‘Giant Pong’. Everyone was encouraging and being supportive of those who were playing.
Needless to say, the biggest highlight of the week was the opening of the new playground. The joy on the kids’ faces as they were finally able to get out and run, jump, crawl and just have a fantastic time was infectious. With it being particularly difficult to wipe the silly smile off my face.
Finally, it is with great pleasure to announce that after feedback on some things that we could do at ASC to enhance a child’s experience, some of the boys have begun a project that will see ASC have their very own mini golf course by the end of the term!
