Principal's Message

Dear Parents/Carers,

Congratulations to our Pre Primary students and the staff for a wonderful Assembly recently. It was great seeing the students speak with so much confidence.

Mr Kaloczy also ran a memorable Music Assembly this week with many of the students performing as part of a choir, doing solos or playing instruments. This display of skills from our students from all years was amazing!

Well done to our Well Being committee which put together a range of activities for staff and students this week. It was a wonderful way to finish off the term!

Congratulations to our Athletics team who won the Interschool Shield this week. Our students were brilliant ambassadors for the school and their efforts on the day were outstanding. Thank you to Mrs Foster and staff for coaching and to Mr Truong and one of our Ed Connect volunteers who were officials on the day. It was great to see a number of supporters cheering our students on.

We were hopeful of running an Interschool Swimming carnival but it is doubtful now due to the difficulty of the schools to find a common time during Term 4.

Yale, an athlete preparing for the 2024 Paris Olympics in kayaking undertook a follow up session with a group of senior students on goal setting. Our group was very impressed with her enthusiasm and drive to tackle her goals and show resilience when approaching issues.

Thank you to Mrs Bullock, Mrs Walker and Mr Robinson for planning and running the recent school camp to Dwellingup. The wet weather didn’t dampen the spirits with many wonderful experiences shared amongst the year 6 group and staff.

We welcome support for the 120th fete coming up on SATURDAY, 13 November from 11:30am-6:00pm. If you can spare some time to assist, please pass on your details to the P&C group headed up by Jo and Sherry.

The cookbook is looking magnificent and when finished will be a great keepsake. The school has organised for a badge to be made up for students to keep with extras to be available for sale along with other interesting memorabilia through the fete memorabilia stand.

Could we ask that you spread the word to former students to come along and have a look at some displays in classrooms from about 12:00pm to 2:00pm and displays on verandahs?

For those of you who walk to school you may have come across stop signs and blue feet painted on the footpaths leading up to the school. A group of 11 senior students worked with WestCycle to undertake the painting activity which was funded through a grant from the Department of Transport, ‘Your Move’ program. Next term a map showing a variety of routes to school will be made available to our families.

To assist with security during the term Break, if you happen to be passing the school and notice any anti-social behaviour please ring Education Security on: 1800177777.

The gates at the top and bottom of Hope street as well as those on Montreal and Watkins streets will be locked but access to the oval will still be available on Wood and Watkins streets.

HORIZONS will be running a holiday care centre at the school in the transportable during the two weeks.

On the first Wednesday back our PP-Year 3 students will be involved in Swimming lessons at the Fremantle Pool. Please check the paperwork from staff on what to organise for the 8 days of lessons.

I would like to thank staff for their efforts and enthusiasm during the term. Many have booked in their own time, extra professional learning during the Break, including first aid refresher courses.

As what has been a busy but very rewarding term comes to an end, I would like to, on behalf of staff wish everyone a wonderful Break with family and friends.

School will recommence on TUESDAY, 11 October. Staff will be involved with courses on the Monday.
