Music

Dear Parents/Carers and Music Students,

I must say it is so nice to be back at school teaching our students face to face. It’s great to see all students attending their lessons. This year has been a real challenge for many of us. We hope this will be the last phase of remote learning.

Rehearsals have commenced. The string ensemble have been learning new pieces and our guitar ensemble are making great progress. Our first Junior Band rehearsal will take place on Friday 5th November during session 1. A reminder to all students to bring their instrument and music to school on the day.

Classroom music has been lots of fun with students learning how to play the guitar, keyboards, bass guitar and drums. 8A, 8B and 8D are getting a taste of playing in an ensemble playing lots of pop songs. Students are memorising chords and playing simple melodies. We also have a few vocalists amongst the group which is exciting. It has been a real pleasure witnessing students being engaged, taking their music seriously playing their parts on the guitar and keyboard. In the coming weeks the plan is to record all of the songs learned in class. Who knows, we might feature some of these groups at our next concert! We look forward to more practical sessions with these students.

End of term concert.

We would love to host a final concert at the end of Term 4 showcasing our ensembles and solo items. This will depend on restrictions easing. I will be in contact with all families once we know more information.  Fingers crossed our young musicians will have an opportunity to perform one more time on the stage before the year draws to a close. Stay tuned!

On behalf of all instrumental music staff Kimberley Gardiner, Ryan Lestrange and Donna Stemberger enjoy the rest of the term.
