Canteen News

Pease note these dates

Dear Parents & Carers,

I am so excited to see students start returning to school.

The canteen will gradually resume operation starting this Wednesday & Friday for any student attending school in person until all children are back onsite. Please check opening days best suited to your family.

The canteen will continue to practice safe food handling. No risk of Covid transmission from food has been reported and we will have appropriate protocols in place to ensure we are operating in a COVID-safe manner. Masks will be worn at all times, handwashing & sanitising whilst preparing & serving food. The canteen is exclusively run by myself. Volunteers are not currently permitted.

Before collecting the lunch basket, students are required to handwash with soap, then sanitise. Each classroom has their own named basket used exclusively for lunches, only students from that class may collect their basket.

Teachers will hand out lunches & frozen treats to students.  Baskets are returned straight back to the canteen to be sanitised ready for the next day. The lunch baskets stay in the canteen overnight.

Great care is taken to prevent cross-contamination of known allergens for those students with allergies/anaphylaxis. The canteen is a NUT FRIENDLY kitchen, EGGS are used in both baking and mayonnaise. Allergens are clearly stated for menu items on Qkr. Please read these carefully before making your choice. Please remember to opt-in for your child’s allergies/anaphylaxis.

All food must be pre-ordered using Qkr before the cut-off time.

No cash is accepted.

Paper lunch bags are provided by the canteen.

Please remember Kalinda is a No Food Sharing school. You may only purchase food items for your child/ren.

The canteen will provide disposable cutlery for those purchasing canteen lunches.

For home lunches, students must provide their own cutlery, alternatively, disposable cutlery can be purchased on Qkr.

Birthday treats will be available, take a look at our new Birthday Oreo cupcakes & Birthday Fondant cookies, these will be sent out in sealed clear packaging. Students must collect their treats from the canteen at recess.

Late Lunch packs will again be available for those families who’ve forgotten lunch or miss the 8.30am cut off.

Frozen treats will be placed in tub & collected with the lunch basket for teachers to hand out. Your child may need to collect from the canteen if no other lunches or Icypoles have been ordered by classmates. Please remind them to come to the canteen to check if they have not yet received.

Take-home meals will be unavailable until further notice.

When placing your child’s order please check you have the correct date – a wrongly selected date means lunch will not be prepared until the date selected. You should receive a message and email if notifications have been activated. Check your receipts for confirmation.

Please place your orders with plenty of time ahead in case of unexpected hiccups, check your order has been processed and gone through.

If you forget your Qkr password, reset to avoid adding in an incorrect one and being locked out.

Absent – please cancel orders before 8.30am.

Credit will be offered for your next order.

If you miss the cut off, please call before 9.30am to reschedule your order for another day.

If you cannot see your child’s preferred items, they may be temporarily sold out or no longer unavailable.

If the canteen is closed on a specific day, it will be blacked out on Qkr and orders cannot be accepted.

If you have any questions or queries, please feel free to contact me via the office Monday – Thursday before 9.30am.

Due to the high volume of orders on a Friday I am unable to take your call, a message can be left with Admin staff.

Thank you

Justine
