A Return to Campus!

It has been a fabulously joyful first week in BMGS Early Learning, with Pre-Kindergarten, Kindergarten and Stage 1 (Years 1 and 2) students re-experiencing face to face learning for the first time in many weeks. Students were among their friends; smiling, laughing and learning. Teachers were back where they love to be; in the same room as their students, facilitating interpersonal learning activities and seeing the outcomes on students’ faces so that they know that they are making a difference in students’ lives.

Many people are talking about the 18th and the 25th of this month as the return to school. The NSW Government even has a Return to School Plan. However, this is not a return to Blue Mountains Grammar School because we have been at school throughout this lockdown, except for during much needed term breaks. Students have been engaged with their teachers and their classmates. Teachers have planned and facilitated learning and students have engaged with that learning. Teachers have evaluated and assessed students’ progress. Teachers have monitored student engagement and wellbeing and provided advice and care. The School has liaised with parents where necessary, accepted feedback, modified plans and practices and generally, sought to grow in its capacity to ensure students keep learning.

We are very excited though about the return of students in Years 3 to 11 to campus next Monday, 25th October. Fortunately, the rules have changed and we will not need to wear masks outside so life will begin to feel much more normal. This and a few other changes have been captured in the latest version of our COVID-Safety information for families.

I hope all students have a great weekend and are ready and raring to go when I next see them.

Bring on Monday!
