ConnecTED Learning

Before we let you know more about what is going on in ConnecTED Learning, we just want to share that the TED team are very impressed at the way our Year 7 students were able to continue with their learning over the course of remote learning. We loved chatting with them on zoom, checking in to see how they were going and witnessing them engaging with their peers. They are truly products of a learning environment that fosters independence and encourages resilience. Throughout this period, TED students wrote their first essays and created geographic documentaries. Thank you all so much for your support of their learning journey as parents and carers.

English

In TED-English this term we are really excited to be beginning an inquiry into the elements of film and visual literacy. We have experienced a successful opening series of lessons that engaged students and had them share what they believe makes a great film. Students have enjoyed learning about different camera shots, and angles and building their understanding of how creators of film use them to create meaning. They have been building their film language as a strong base for future learning around the topic. TED -E students are eager to put their knowledge to work when they create their own short films in the next few weeks. We look forward to being able to share some of them with you, so watch this space…

HSIE (Geography)

TED-HSIE students returned to face-to-face learning just in time to enjoy viewing samples of the amazing David Attenborough style documentaries created by their peers. These documentaries were the culmination of students learning about landforms and landscapes in Australia and how they are formed and valued; they were amazing.

We are moving on to study place and liveability and students are exploring what criteria is used to measure what makes a place liveable, creating their own city plans.

Religion

TED-RE students have just begun a new unit of work called ‘People of the Covenant’. Their learning pathway commenced with an exploration into covenantal relationships; where two parties make binding promises to each other and work together to reach a common goal. This week students are completing 4 self-paced workshops on the Prophets of the Old Testament who each made a covenant with God; Adam and Eve, Abraham, Moses and King David. The unit will culminate in the completion of an on-line Canvas Quiz, as their final piece of assessment for 2021. We are delighted with the maturity our students have shown in their approach to learning this semester, under challenging circumstances and commend them on their approach to Religious Education across the whole year. They have been a delight to work with.
