Year 12 Commitment Liturgy

On Thursday 7 October, Year 12, class of 2022, joined Fr John, the College Leadership team, teachers and support staff to celebrate their Commitment Liturgy. The Liturgy celebrated the commencement of their HSC year which represents their final year of schooling, at Mater Dei Catholic College. All students were presented with College badges which were blessed by Fr John and symbolise their leadership journey at the College.

The Liturgy called on their Commitment in the areas of academic learning, faith and care, sport, culture and the arts, commitment to their relationships with family members, their peers and the College community. We reflected on the love God has for each one of our students, along with the abiding love that is modelled to them by Mary, our College Patron.

Socktober - Mission Month

Socktober for Mission Month encourages students across Australia to kick goals on and off the pitch to make a difference in the lives of vulnerable children in Thailand and around the world. Our Year 7 students and the SRC will be involved in promoting and organising Socktober concluding with a Socktober Shootout on Friday 29 October.

Attached is an important letter from Bishop Mark Edwards OMI, Bishop of Wagga Wagga. The letter is in regards to Masses in our Diocese for the next fortnight.

Plenary Council

In October 2021, the Catholic Church in Australia will gather for the first Assembly of the Plenary Council since the Second Vatican Council. The Plenary Council is being held to enable dialogue about the future of the Catholic Church in Australia and discern what God is currently asking of the Australian church. We pray for the success of the plenary council and that conversations and dialogue promote positive change for the church.

Come, Holy Spirit of Pentecost.

Come, Holy Spirit of the great South Land.

O God, bless and unite all your people in Australia

and guide us on the pilgrim way of the Plenary Council.

Give us the grace to see your face in one another

and to recognise Jesus, our companion on the road.

Give us the courage to tell our stories

and to speak boldly of your truth.

Give us ears to listen humbly to each other

and a discerning heart to hear what you are saying.

Lead your Church into a hope-filled future,

that we may live the joy of the Gospel.

Through Jesus Christ our Lord,

bread for the journey from age to age.

Amen.

Our Lady Help of Christians, pray for us.

St Mary MacKillop, pray for us.
