Principal News

Dear Sacred Heart School Community

Sacred Heart School has been advised that a student who was onsite on Thursday the 7th and Friday the 8th of October has tested positive for coronavirus and is awaiting confirmation from the Department of Health (DH).

Following advice from Melbourne Archdiocese Catholic Schools (MACS), Sacred Heart School will be closed today, Tuesday 12 October, and tomorrow, Wednesday 13 October, to complete a pandemic clean and support contact tracing.

Contact tracing involves identifying and notifying any person who has been in close recent contact with the affected student who has tested positive for COVID-19. If you are identified as a close contact (Tier 1 contact) or casual contact (Tier 2 contact), the DH will get in touch with you directly. These calls or text messages can come from private or unknown numbers. Please answer these calls or follow text message advice if you receive a call or text message.

Students who were onsite on Thursday and Friday last week are advised to get tested and remain at home until they receive a negative result. They must limit movements to home-based activities and not attend public places except to get tested.

If you or anyone in your family develop even the mildest of symptoms, please get tested. If you need to get tested, please check coronavirus.vic.gov.au for up-to-date information about waiting times at testing sites across the state.

I understand this news will be concerning for many of you. I want to assure you we are doing everything we can to contain and slow the spread of the virus and ensure the health and safety of our whole school community.

Please be aware that we cannot provide information about the person who has tested positive for COVID-19 and I ask that that you respect their privacy.

Sacred Heart School is being supported by MACS regarding our next steps and appropriate action.

We will continue to keep you informed as further updates become available.

More information regarding coronavirus and schools is available at coronavirus.vic.gov.au.

Yours sincerely,

Mark Tierney
