Cricket 

Year 9&10

Unfortunately Year 9&10 cricket was again washed out due to the heavy rains over the weekend. 

Year 7&8 Gold 

The Year 7&8 Gold team was outplayed by a far more consistent MacKillop team. Batting first we lost wickets at regular intervals with only Blake Garrett (36), Lachlan Davey (23) and Jack Allen (16) getting to double figures. 

9-102 was never going to be enough on the small JPC Oval and called for an exceptional bowling and fielding effort from SVC. Unfortunately this was not to be with the team dropping several chances and not being able to bowl consistent lines. MacKillop made the runs in the 14th over losing only 3 wickets. Wicket takers were Sam Orr (1-23) and Mason Devlin (1/1). 

The loss will no doubt focus boys on the need to create partnerships whilst batting and to create pressure in the field.

Sailing 

Congratulations to the Team Sailing group (led by our Sailing Captain James Pinelli) who took on The Friends School on Wednesday night at the Sandy Bay Sailing Club. In a great team performance in the round robin format, the boys sailed away with a determined and skilful 2-1 win over the highly touted  Friends School. 

 SVC Kayak and Surf Ski Training Group

 We were blessed with some amazing weather on the River Derwent, the first ever SVC Kayak and Surf Ski Training Group took to the water. The group provides boys with not only a fantastic way to keep fit and develop their skills but also the chance to work towards participating in multi-sport races such as the Freycinet Challenge.
