Year 10 Student Mass and OVA Mass

Tuesday 2 November 10:15am (Austins Ferry)

Tuesday 9 November 11:15am (Austins Ferry)

Wednesday 24 November 11:00am (St Mary’s Cathedral)

As we head toward the examination, leaving and graduation rituals for our year 10 students we are increasingly aware of the need to make this time of transition a memorable and meaningful time for them and are seeking ways for our College community to support them in an enriching and authentic manner.

We have invited Claremont Parish priest Fr Suresh to celebrate Mass throughout the next few Tuesday mornings with our Year 10s in the Chapel of Our Lady of Perpetual Help at Austins Ferry. Current staff members who are Old Virgilians have been encouraged to attend, and we warmly invite any and all members of the OVA to join the students in these important celebrations in the faith life of our College.

Just Leadership Day

Thursday November 4

Sacred Heart College, New Town

Just Leadership Day is an important opportunity for students from different schools to come together, to learn about Catholic Social Teaching, servant leadership and the great work of CARITAS Australia, Vinnies and Catholic Mission. Our Year 9 students who are keen to develop skills in service leadership are encouraged to attend as the afternoon sessions will enable time to start planning practical ways they can support these agencies back at their schools in 2022 through future fundraising and awareness-raising events and activities.

Tasmanian World Youth Day

Saturday 20th & Sunday 21st November

Holy Trinity Catholic Church, Westbury

Pope Francis has called for a locally celebrated World Youth Day to take place this year on the Feast of Christ the King. As such the World Youth Day pilgrimage for our parish-based young adults and students in Years 9-12 will have the opportunity to travel up north either by private transport, or to board supplied buses from each region around Tasmania. These buses will stop at designated Way Across Tasmania crosses along the various routes, where pilgrims will have an opportunity to pray and engage in an activity, before continuing on to Westbury. Upon arrival pilgrims will participate in a short walk around Westbury’s beautiful Town Common and Town Green to the church grounds. A tent city will be erected, with some accommodation available in the old school rooms.
