Mathematics

Mathematics teachers have continued to develop and improve our skills for delivery of lessons during remote learning. Many of the techniques that we used in the first round of remote learning are being used e.g. the online Mathematics programs like Mathsonline, Mathspace and Edrolo. Teachers are still making videos for our students which allows students to watch the videos multiple times if needed.

Our Year 8 and 9 Mathematics classes have been introduced to Google Slides during this round of Remote Learning. Google Slides is a presentation program that is part of our Google Suite and allows people to create and edit presentations online. Using Google Slides has provided our teachers with an effective platform to present all resources and work for each class in the one location. Many of the slides include YouTube videos, teacher-made videos, links to other sites, as well as a variety of activities and questions for students to answer.

Teachers are able to view students working in real time and are able to work individually with students through text on screen and provide individual feedback.

Year 8 students have completed a Statistics unit. The Google Slides were designed to allow students to interact in their learning by moving icons and drawing graphs in an easy to use manner. It serves to help students to complete regular and consistent tasks during this remote learning period.
