Mothers Are Special!
Mothers' Day Mass and Breakfast
Thank you to all mothers and children who attended our Mothers' Day Breakfast and Mothers' Day Mass celebration this morning. Mothers and grandmothers are all very special people and I wish them all a very special day this Sunday on Mothers' Day.
A huge thank you to Peter Sigle who spent many hours during the week purchasing breakfast items as well as setting up for the breakfast. His efforts and support is always appreciated at OLA. Thank you also to Ben Sigle, for coordinating the music, and to all the staff who cooked the breakfast and assisted on the day. Their efforts are greatly appreciated.
Reports Online - SEQTA
As we move towards becoming paperless at OLA, all future semester reports will be uploaded to the SEQTA platform to be download by parents. Later in the term, parents will be receiving their own personal log on details to SEQTA. Once the reports are uploaded, parents will be notified and will be able to download their children's reports. More information to come later in the term.
CECWA Strategic Directions
The Catholic Education Commission of Western Australia (CECWA) has a strategic purpose to ensure that Catholic education is delivered and managed through the system of Catholic Education Western Australia (CEWA) in a responsible and effective manner, working within the Catholic Mission, appropriate standards and regulations.
CECWA has commenced the process of developing the strategic direction for Catholic Education in Western Australia from 2019 to 2021. This fundamental work will enable CECWA to consolidate and communicate our key objectives for coming years.
The first phase of this consultation involves gathering feedback from our Catholic education community that will inform the draft Strategic Direction 2019 - 2021.

CECWA is eager to listen to our community through this important process and I thank you in anticipation for your participation in helping to shape the future direction of Catholic education throughout Western Australia.
Outside School Hours Care and Vacation Care
OLA is currently completing a feasibility study to determine if a school based OSHC and Vacation Care program can be established at the school.
If there is a possibility your children may attend the program, please complete the attached expression of interest PDF below and email the completed document to karen.meleca@cewa.edu.au by Friday 25 May.

Attached to this section, are the Term Calendars. They will be uploaded onto the school website early next week. The school's interactive calendar has also been updated for the remainder of the year. Please note the PDF Term Calendars (attached) are updated at the beginning of each term. Please refer to the school's interactive calendar, which is updated regularly.
OLA P&F Constitution - Extraordinary Meeting
The extraordinary meeting, to ratify the new P&F Constitution, will be held on Thursday 17 May in the Library, commencing at 2.30pm. Please refer to the attached document.

Uniform Sub-Committee
A Uniform Sub-Committee has been established to review suggestions put forward by parents. The committee members are Rebecca Smith (Assistant Principal) - Chairperson, Peter Sigle (School Board Representative), Natalee Cunningham (P&F Representative), Tania Longman (Uniform Shop Coordinator) and Anella Tollis (Staff Member).
All suggestions put forward by parents will be reviewed by the School Board Sub-Committee and recommendations put forward to the School Board to make a final decision. If you have any suggestions, please email Rebecca directly at rebecca.smith@cewa.edu.au
NAPLAN Testing Schedule (attached)
Merit Certificate Recipients
The Merit Certificate page of this newsletter has been removed and handed back to the classroom teachers. If your child will be receiving a merit certificate, classroom teachers will notify you, via an email, on the Monday of the week leading up to assembly.
Kindergarten Applications For 2019 & 2020
Parents with siblings due to start Kindergarten in 2019 and 2020 are requested to complete the attached application form if they haven't done so already. We are also accepting applications for 2020 and beyond. Once the application has been completed, please email Administration at admin@ola.wa.edu.au
