4/5/6 Slam Poetry

In Writing this week, students in the 456 area have been learning all about slam poetry. Slam poetry is a form of spoken poetry that is performed in front of an audience. The purpose slam poetry is to send a powerful, emotional or humorous message through to the audience about a topic. Slam poems are usually written about politics, the environment, gender equality, school or other controversial topics such as COVID-19!

Here are some of the 5-star poems that students have been working on this week. We love these poems because they send a strong message to the audience and evoke passion, emotion and sometimes, laughter!
