A note from Mr Jackson

2021 Prep Enrolments and Orientation

We are currently planning our orientation for our 2021 Prep students. A range of plans for different scenarios have been mapped out to ensure our newest members of RPS will transition in a supportive and friendly manner. If you have a child who is planning to attend Rosanna Primary next year or have a neighbour or friend planning to come along, please ensure that you speak with Ally between 9:00am and 12:30pm on 0419 337 637 as soon as possible. We want to make sure everyone is included.

Maths Professional Day (Monday 31 August)

We are fortunate to be hosting a virtual visit of Michael Minas who will lead teachers in Professional Development session on Monday 31 August. Exploring the central themes of mathematics as they develop through the curriculum will continue to build our practice and understandings of the mathematics continuum. On this day teachers will not be conducting online webex meetings and there will be no learning tasks that will be expected to be uploaded. Teachers will continue to provide learning experiences for students. To be marked present on this day parents are asked to confirm their child has completed their assigned learning by emailing their child’s classroom teacher.

Daily Attendance – ‘Marking the Roll’

Students are considered ‘present’ if they participate in online learning (eg. uploading learning tasks, participation in online conferences, emails, phone conversations). To ensure that our attendance rolls are accurately maintained, when students are not connecting to online learning they will be marked as ‘absent’ unless a parent confirms that they have completed their set learning tasks. This can be done via email or with a simple phone call.

Lower Playground and STEM Garden Opening

Thanks so much for those who have picked up and painted a pailing (say that ten times quickly!). Their efforts will be celebrated on Friday even though not all pailings have been completed. There is still an opportunity to paint a pailing or two. Simply send through your request to rosanna.ps@education.vic.gov.au

Katie Thwaites, our local federal member and a range of other special guests will join us for our special opening. Bring along a ribbon (preferably red) and a pair of scissors to join in the celebrations of opening the Lower Playground and STEM Garden. We want everyone to be involved.
