Change in Reception Hours

We're really looking forward to welcoming students back to school!  From Monday 12 October, our Reception hours are 8.30am - 4pm.  Our office number is 9754 6435, please don't hesitate to call with any questions.

Communication App Reminder

As we welcome students back to school and return to the day to day routine of on-site school life, we wanted to send families a small reminder regarding our communication apps.

Please remember to keep an eye on your Flexischools app for daily and emergency communications.  Additionally, CareMonkey (who are now known as Operoo on the web) is used for permissions.

We ask for you to please regularly check these to ensure you are aware of updates and so you don't miss any permission requests for students.

Students Withdrawing in 2021

Parents are reminded that if your child is not returning to BHCS in 2021, the school should have already been informed.   If your child is not returning please contact the registrar via jdavis@bhcs.vic.edu.au without delay.

2021 Fee Schedule

Please find the 2021 Fee Schedule attached. It is also now available on the BHCS website.

Due to the significant effect that COVID-19 has had on our community, the School Council has decided that there will be no fee increases in 2021.

We have also reduced the Resource Levy across most year levels. This levy had previously been called the Activities & Resource Levy which covered camps and excursions where applicable. At this stage, we are unable to determine whether there will be any camps or excursions taking place in 2021 so we have removed these costs from the levy. Should it be possible to have camps next year, the cost will be billed to families separately.

As a result of the changes, the effect will be that the total cost for most year levels will actually be lower per student in 2021, than they were in 2020.

Attention: Health Care Card Holders

FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE FOR PARENTS & STUDENTS WITH HEALTH CARE CARDS

In recognition of the impact of COVID-19 on schools and families, the Department of Education and Training has announced an extension to the CSEF (Camp Sports Excursion Funding) to help support families who have more recently become eligible for a Health Care Card due to financial hardship.

If you have a Health Care Card that is valid on or before 5th October, 2020 , please complete and return the attached CSEF Application Form as soon as possible.

A CSEF claim can only be made once per year. If you are unsure whether you have already submitted a claim for CSEF Funding this year or should you have any other queries, please contact the Finance Office or email lmiko@bhcs.vic.edu.au

Uniforms

As students have not been on-site for some time, we are allowing students to wear either their formal uniform or PE uniform, for the duration of Term 4.

We do ask that families partner with the school in ensuring that students upon their return to school adhere to the necessary uniform requirements related to piercings, hairstyles / hair colour, nails etc.  Please have your children move any additional piercings and bring hair colour back to a natural tone if this is not current the case.

Year 10 : Road Smart

We are looking forward to the next Year 10 Careers activity, Road Smart, a VicRoads road safety education and training program, that will be delivered to our Year 10 students on Friday 16th October at 10:55am. Students who attend the zoom incursion will also receive a free driving experience at a driving range.

Year 10's: keep an eye on your Homeroom Google classroom page for further details and links.

Discovery Centre News

We would like to remind all Kinder to Year 7 students to please return all library books to the DC on their return to school next week.

Over the past few months we have loaned books in a number of ways, including sending books home with student packs and by 'click and collect'.  We hope to begin loaning books to students again as soon as possible and reviewing our stock levels will help us in our planning for this.
