Principal Post

Dear Families,

We continue to keep  so many in our prayers and hearts.  - Those suffering as a result of the floods up north and the millions suffering in the Ukraine.  So many families and people are  displaced and are living with uncertainty.

Pizza with The Principal - Preps

Excitement is brewing for our Preps as they prepare to come to school this evening for Pizza with the Principal!! We hope that this is a wonderful opportunity for students and families to enjoy  being a part of the St John Vianney's community.  It promises to be a great night. My thanks to the Prep Team, Admin team  and Mr Ru our Family Engagement Leader for their preparation.

Effective Feedback

The Closure Day last Friday gave our staff the opportunity  to build their understanding of effective feedback. Research suggests that our students will do better when they are clear about  the purpose of the lesson (Learning Intention) and what steps they need to take to meet success (Success Criteria).

Prep 2023 Enrolment

Thank you to current families who have sent back their enrolment forms for their 2023 child.

We need these back as soon as possible to assist with planning

School Captain Badge Ceremony and PREP Clapping in Ceremony

We are planning to hold a brief ceremony to present the Captain's and Leader's badges to our Year 6 students on MONDAY 28th MARCH at 9:00am. We will also formally WELCOME our Preps with a very simple clapping in ceremony.

This will take place outside at the back of the Performing Arts Area.  As swimming is taking place some of our Year 1/2 classes may not be able to attend.

This event was scheduled for earlier in the year but due to COVID restrictions, it was postponed. Parents attending must be fully vaccinated and bring a mask should we need to be inside.

A morning tea will be provided following the ceremony. The event should be finished by 10am.

 Safety around parking

PLEASE READ

An important and friendly reminder to all parents and grandparents to take particular  care when dropping off or picking up children. At peak times there are many students, parents, grandparents and toddlers around both the Parish Carpark and at the Back Gate.  It can be quite congested and requires everyone to be extremely watchful and patient. Please be mindful of pedestrian traffic. For the safety of everyone, please be careful and follow the instructions of any school and street signage.

The pedestrian crossing near the corner of Dunoon Crt and Police Road is the safest way to cross Police Road.

Crossing busy Police Road at other points could be very unsafe.

At the back of the school....

Do not drop your child off on the  corner of Studley and Bevis Street in the no standing area.  This is dangerous.

St John's Way is a kiss and drop. Do not park, get out of car as it holds up the traffic.

Please be  courteous and respectful of  the rights of local traders and school neighbours when you park in the surrounding streets to drop off or pick up your children.

Do not park in or across driveways.

In Dunoon Court outside the shops  please ensure you do not block users from accessing or leaving shop carparks. You may have to "let the public" in and out - patience and respect is the key!

The Council and Police do and will continue to enforce fines on people who are not obeying the law. Fines are significant.

Safety is paramount!
