PRINCIPAL'S REPORT

Year 7 Roses Gap Camp: 09 – 11 March

We are so happy to share with our community that our first school camp for the year was a success. The Year 7 Roses Gap Camp provided students with opportunities to challenge and explore their personal limits while promoting teamwork and group bonding. It is designed to build confidence through achievement, and encourages students to form new connections and friendships with their peers.

We received excellent feedback from the camp operators, including that we are the only school camp so far this year that has run uninterrupted. I would like to thank our hardworking SCSC staff for all their extra work in getting this camp off the ground and ensuring our students had an amazing experience. Please enjoy the photos from the camp in this newsletter edition.

College Open Evening: 21 March

We are excited to be able to share with our community a walk-through of our College tonight, from 6-8pm. We will have some activities and information for families, which will be beneficial if you are wanting your child to enrol at SCSC in 2023.

Due to the current COVID-19 restrictions, we will have some important measures in place to ensure the safety of our school and wider community on the night:

  • If you are unwell, please stay home.
  • If you feel unwell on-site, please advise a member of staff.
  • Visitors will be required to show their proof of double vaccination to a SCSC staff member upon entry at one of the main entrance points.
  • Practise good hygiene – there will be hand sanitiser in the learning spaces and in the Administration Area.

Thank you to Andy from Roseneath Creative for creating some short videos of some of our wonderful programs and subjects offered at SCSC. To view these videos, please refer to our Facebook page by clicking HERE.

We understand that due to the current climate, some students have had unavoidable days off school and we understand this year hasn’t been easy on some families. Ensuring parents/carers are inputting their child’s absences via their Compass Parent Portal will ensure attendance records are up to date and we as a school can offer additional support to those students in need or who are completing their schooling remotely.

We have seen a trend this term that the amount of calls from parents/carers related to absences is detracting from the Administration Team’s ability to do other tasks. We have created a survey for families to complete HERE, which will include questions about the use of your Compass Parent Portal and what additional support our Administration Team can provide. We ask you to please complete by 4pm Friday 01 April and we will endeavour to get back to you with some instructions and/or support by the end of this term.
