Grade 5/6

Literacy - Blueback

It has been another very busy week in Year 5/6. Especially, having one less day with Monday being a public holiday. In preparation for the Warrandyte Festival on Saturday, the students made some flower artwork with their buddies. A fantastic session by all.

"I have enjoyed looking at the themes in the story. Like the resilience shown by Dora " - Sadie and Taj  5/6J

Literacy:

The room was abuzz with discussion. This was exactly what we were aiming for when we began our class novel Blueback.  What happened to Abel's father? Will Blueback survive during Costello's illegal fishing tactics? How old is Abel?

As part of our Literacy focus this term we have worked on different areas of the text. These have included visualizing, summaries, character profiles and themes identified. (see attached photos) The students have predicted what will come of Abel, his mother Dora and of course Blueback. Stay tuned.

In writing, students have worked some imaginative and creative narratives. We have followed the stages of writing including writing a first draft and then editing and revising before publishing their final piece.

We have had a fabulous start to Term 1 - 2022. Let's keep it up Grade 5/6.
