Mr Irwin's Message

Mr. Irwin's Message

Hello Families and welcome to this week’s newsletter.

Continuation of Covid 19 testing.

With the Government’s announcement of Rapid testing continuing until the end of term, we will send home another box of tests with students later in the week to ensure families have the supplies they need to continue twice weekly testing which remains the recommendation.

Masks remain mandatory indoors for 3-6 students, and perhaps most importantly the expectation remains that if your child is sick, they stay at home. I’m so grateful to our families with how they’ve managed across term one. Together we’ve been able to minimise impact to learning with only a very few positive cases in the school, and even better, very little spread of positive cases. Masks, sanitising and the extra cleaning during the day all appear to be helping.

I’m sure we’ll take our turn to be impacted at some stage, however I’m confident the routines we have established for learning in all classrooms because of the start to term one we’ve had will buffer any impact this may cause.

Please continue to use tests provided, monitor for symptoms and keep children home when they are unwell.

Parents' Club Annual General Meeting

Next Wednesday March 16th at 2:45pm our Parents' Club are holding their Annual General Meeting. Our Parents' Club does a behemoth of work across the school including termly lunch order days and fundraisers. Last year they raised funds that are going towards the landscaping of the front of the school, including for items such as the new sandpit. The PC are always actively looking for new members to help out with lunch order days and fundraising events. There’s no expectation new members must contribute to all events the PC run. So if you’re interested and would like to learn more about the role of the PC in the school, we’d love to see you next Wednesday the 16th at 2:45pm.

House Athletics Carnival

A reminder to families that our House Athletics Carnival is Friday the 18th of March. Last year this was a terrific launch of what we hope will become an enjoyable annual event. Many families came along to watch and enjoy this day at Don Wallace Reserve, which gave the day great atmosphere. I’d encourage families that do have the opportunity to attend to come along and enjoy the day, here’s hoping the weather is as good as last year!

The following Friday, a squad of students in year 3-6 will be selected to represent the school at the Flinders Athletics carnival at Goldsworthy reserve. This is a quick turnaround and students will be notified by Tuesday if they are participating in this event or not.

Have a great week, enjoy the long weekend once it arrives, and bye for now.

Worry Worms

Thank you to our local Native Hut CWA ladies who have kindly knitted 'Worry Worms' to support students by helping to take their worries away. They're very cute!
