Inclusion Support Update

Wow! What a great start we have had to 2022. Students are settling back into school well and working hard in class to achieve their goals.

Year 7 students have completed the Best Start Assessment and this information is being used by teachers to plan for learning experiences for students that will support them with their literacy and numeracy growth.

Year 7 and 8 students have completed their initial Leveled Literacy Intervention (LLI) assessments and this information is being used to finalise reading programs and groups for those who would benefit from support with their reading goals. These groups will be finalised soon and parents of these students will be notified of their child’s eligibility.

This term we have welcomed some new staff members to our learning support team:

Ms Helen Mergen (Education Assistant)

Mr Steven Ford (Aboriginal Education Assistant)

Miss Emily Wooster (Education Assistant)

Returning this year we have the familiar faces of

Mrs Kaylene Osborne (Education Assistant)

Miss Annabel Cullen (Education Assistant)

Mr Matt Griffin (Aboriginal Education Assistant)

Ms Kate Bloomfield (Aboriginal Education Assistant)

Mr Mark Honeysett (Education Assistant)

Mr Anthony Kelly (Education Assistant)

Mrs Natalie Gurr (Inclusion Support Teacher)

Mrs Katie Biddle (Leader of Learning Inclusion Support)

Personal Plan meetings for students with diverse learning needs will occur over the next few weeks. Please keep an eye out for an email where you can select a time that suits you. At these meetings we will work with you and your child on goal setting and plan for support.

We look forward to working with you and your children this year! If you have any questions about student support at O’Connor please do not hesitate to contact me on kbiddle1@arm.catholic.edu.au
