Principal's Report

Mrs Clare Healy

What does it mean to be part of our TEAM?

Who are our TEAM members?

This week we have had a number of opportunities to answer these questions. We have had students representing our College at events such as Armidale’s International Women’s Day, the Armidale and Walcha Shows and Diocese Touch Football at Inverell. Our students made both our College and their families proud.

It’s important that we remember TEAM is a way of being that happens everyday. It is about the everyday actions that create an environment where Everyone can Achieve More. Great teams remember that consistent actions such as arriving on time and ready to learn builds the foundations of teamwork. Our uniform also reminds us that we are all part of the team, we are all working together and that we are never alone. These foundations of teamwork challenge us to be ‘better versions of ourselves’ because in a team we are accountable to each other, our families and community.

At O’Connor we are challenged to work together for a goal bigger than ourselves. We have seen this in the donations to the Lismore Bishop’s Flood Appeal. The O’Connor team raised over $2000 for those in our wider community who need our help. This is what great teams do, it’s our culture, it’s our way of being. The challenge we all face is how do we ensure that our classmates and teachers are given that same care and respect in the ‘little’ things. The Living Well, Learning Well Framework challenges us to care, respect and value each other, everyday. As a member of the O’Connor TEAM we are all challenged to work together, to include each other and celebrate the successes of each other everyday!

This year we will develop our sense of TEAM - Together Everyone Achieves More.

God Bless,
