Prep BW

Congratulations to our preps for a fantastic start to term 2! Our class has done an amazing job at remembering our learning goals and what our routines are at school.

Literacy

In Literacy, we have been working on reading short words, recognising the sounds made by different letters and how to act out a narrative story. We worked altogether to create props for our ‘Little Chelone’ play and we will be role playing this in class this week. We have also started learning our tricky words such as “I”, “you” and “we”.

Numeracy

In Numeracy, the Preps learned positional language very quickly! They were able to describe the location of objects in relation to other objects using words such as “on top”, “under” and “in front”. This week we have started Statistics and Probability. We are working on collecting and displaying data using tallies, tick charts and pictographs.

Inquiry and Respectful Relationships

In Inquiry, we are learning about familiar places. We have used our new knowledge from Maths to create tallies to record how often we go to places such as home, school and the shops. In Respectful Relationships, we are revising our lessons from last term on understanding how we and others are feeling, and strategies we can use to regulate those emotions.

1/2PB & 1/2NP

Welcome back to school! The 1/2 students have made an amazing start to Term 2 with everyone settled and ready to learn. We've even had an AFL Footy Clinic (thanks Mrs Waldron!)

In Mathematics we have been revising and consolidating the student's

knowledge of Friends of 10 (and beyond) and doubles.

Students have played lots of hands on games and have worked collaboratively during Mathematics sessions.

We have shared fiction and non fiction books and students have made predictions about what may come next in a story or about what they may learn from a book. We have discussed how illustrations, maps and charts add meaning to texts and spoken about new things they learnt from reading the book.

We commemorated ANZAC Day by making dawn ANZAC art. We talked about what ANZAC Day is and what it means to

 Australians.

Finally, this week we have taken a little side step into learning about

bullying. Every day we have read about, discussed and learned about what bullying is, how it makes people feel, how we can stop bullying and choices we can make to spread kindness and stamp out bullying. On Thursday the whole school came together to 'sprinkle kindness' by creating a sprinkle themed art work and then enjoying fairy bread together.
