Story Dogs

Our Story Dogs program started this week in Year 1. It was lovely to see a number of children sitting with Michelle and Boomer reading and engaging in rich texts. Children met Boomer and were read a story of their choice followed by reading readers to Boomer, who listened attentively to the children's lovely fluency and expression when reading.

We cannot thank Michelle enough for this literacy initiative and her time.

Buckets were definitely filled with this experience by not only the children but teachers as well. We look forward to this program continuing this year.

Literacy Parent Helpers

This term we warmly welcome any parents who are interested in becoming Literacy Parent Helpers at St James, to join us on Tuesday 16th May 2023 from 2:30 pm - 3:15 pm for a short session on how you can help. Parents who have participated in this session in previous years are encouraged to attend as a refresher.

This meeting will review some important aspects of the Literacy program at St James and discuss some handy prompts and strategies to use when supporting childrens’ Literacy learning.

The session for parents of Prep, Years 1 & 2 students will be held separately in the Library and the session for parents of Years 3-6 children will be held in the Boardroom.

Please indicate if you wish to attend the Literacy Parent Helper afternoon via Operoo.

We are very much looking forward to welcoming Parent Helpers into our school this term!

Thank you in advance for your support.
