WELLBEING
I hope you all had a fabulous holiday and enjoyed a break from routines. Holidays are a great time to continue to build connections with our children and build relationships. This can be hard when we are busy, perhaps working or still trying to manage a household. I know in my house when I am busy this often means children pick up a device. Especially during the holidays, this can create an unhealthy habit. However, did you know our unhealthy habits can be turned into healthy habits?
Did you know that children who learn healthy habits early in life are more likely to maintain those habits as they grow older?
Whether it’s choosing healthy snacks, brushing teeth, journaling, or reading daily, maintaining good habits is important but not always easy.
Habits require consistent effort–research says it takes 21 days to form a new habit.
But all that effort is worth it!
So, how can we help our kids stick with healthy habits?
Breaking big goals into small, manageable chunks is much easier for children.
And simple strategies like visual reminders and celebrating success can make a big difference! See ideas below on how to break bad habits and turn them into a new good habit from Big Life Journal. You can follow Big Life Journal on instagram or sign up to their weekly newsletter and great resources here.
SRC Leaders
I just wanted to give a big shout out to our Year 6 Community Leaders and our classroom SRC Leaders. Each fortnight we hold an SRC Leadership meeting. This involves all SRC Leaders and Community Leaders running a meeting with agenda items. All of our SRC Leaders this Semester have been great contributors. They then return to their class and ask their teacher to open the agenda, they then talk through each item. I really love the way our students embrace this process and really involve themselves. They have some fabulous ideas and great discussions to contribute to.
Well done Semester 1, 2023 SRC Leaders.

St Vincent De Paul Winter Appeal
This term the St James Community will once again be supporting the St Vincent De Paul Winter Appeal. Each year our community responds to the call to support those in our community that are the most vulnerable.
Our wonderful Year 6 Social Justice Leaders will be coming around to each class and sharing the following information with students. A box will be placed in every classroom for students to place their donations. We will then present our donations to St Vincent De Paul during our Feast of the Sacred Heart Mass on the last day of Term 2, Friday 24th of June @ 10:15am. Thank you for your support.
