Deputy Principals' News

Term 2 is upon us after an extra long break during our Term 1 holidays. Term 2 is going to be action packed with many great things to look forward to. Our year 5/6 students have already been on an excursion to ACMI and had a “Talk Money” incursion this week. Two teams represented St James at the Holt District Soccer Tournament (more on that in Sport) and our Junior school made some VERY yummy Anzac biscuits in our Project Space, which everyone enjoyed eating!

Student Uniform

This week some of our Prep students have been wearing their winter uniform for the first time. All students should be in full winter uniform by Monday 8th May. Wearing a uniform gives our students a sense of belonging to our community. It also gives our students a sense of identity and cohesion. With this in mind today at our student SRC Meeting we discussed the parts of our uniform that we felt as students we could improve on.

Here is a list of what the SRC leaders said:

  • Runners are not a part of the school uniform except on sports days. Black runners are NOT a part of the school uniform.
  • Please wear plain white socks with the summer and sport uniform.
  • Winter is navy socks or stockings.
  • Shirts tucked in .
  • Hair accessories are white, navy, red.
  • Sport Jackets are not a part of the school uniform.
  • Ties to be worn and done up properly.

N.B. Girls also have the option of wearing navy trousers in Winter.

All students were informed of the discussion at the SRC meeting on Wednesday this week. Please support us in ensuring your child wears the school uniform correctly and with pride.

Looking forward to another wonderful term.
