1/2 T

Last week we were lucky to participate in a whole school incursion about Aboriginal survival techniques, where we got to see, hear about and touch a whole range of artefacts about various topics including fire, water, hunting, clothing, bush tucker, weapons, medicine, utensils and tools.

Writing

During our writing sessions we have continued learning about using time connectives, such as 'firstly, next, then and finally', and also the meaning and use of verbs (things we can do). This gave us a wonderful opportunity to make fairy bread and then write about the steps in the correct order, using verbs and connectives in our own writing.

We also enjoyed watching this clip that helped us understand how important it is to have our steps in order and make sure we give enough detail so that someone else can follow our instructions.

Maths

During Maths we have continued building our understanding of numbers by representing them in all different ways - in words, pictures, on place value charts, number lines and place value blocks.

This week we have been investigating 2D shapes. Shapes can be described by their properties such as how many sides they have (straight or curved) and the number of corners. We discussed which shapes are similar and different, and where we see them in real life.

Cross Country

A big congratulations for all of the students in 12T who participated in the cross country this week. The weather was not the best but everyone persevered to compete and complete it ~ Well Done!
