Inquiry: Change
This term our inquiry topic is Change. We are exploring how things change over time and making observation about the changes that occur.
Last week we were lucky to participate in a whole school incursion about Aboriginal survival techniques, where we got to see, hear about and touch a whole range of artefacts about various topics including fire, water, hunting, clothing, bush tucker, weapons, medicine, utensils and tools.
The children learnt what it would be like to live in Australia prior to settlement and how tools, food, water, housing and clothing has changed over time. It was a very interesting and hands on incursion that all the children enjoyed.
Maths: 2D shapes
In Maths we have begun exploring 2D shapes. The children have been exploring the names and features of difference 2D shapes. We have explored shapes using blocks and shapes out in the environment of our school. The children then classified shapes based on the number of sides (straight or curved) and the number of corners. We have also explored shapes such as octagons, hexagons, rhombus, parallelogram, kites and pentagons.
Mothers day
It was wonderful to have so many of you at our special school Mass yesterday.
We hope that all Mother's and special women in your children's lives have a wonderful Mother's Day on Sunday.
