Saint Francis Xavier - Principal's Report

Term 2 - Week 3

Dear Parents and Friends of St Francis Xavier,

Mother's Day

Yesterday was one of the truly joyful moments of the school year. A huge number of mothers, carers, grandmothers and special women made time to join us for a very special Mother's Day Mass and morning tea. It was very moving liturgy which both acknowledged and gave us time to reflect on the amazing women in our lives.

To our mums who were not able to join us on Wednesday, I know how busy the weeks are and how difficult juggling work and family committments can be. Thank you for being the amazing mums that you all are and I hope you have a really special day with your families on Sunday.

Cross Country

Although we had a few showers scattered throughout the afternoon, it was wonderful to be able to complete our School Cross Country on Tuesday. The students showed a great deal of grit, determination and resilience to complete their races and should all be commended for their sportsmanship. A team will now be selected to represent St Francis Xavier Primary School at the District Cross Country event which is held at Woodleigh next Friday. Congratulations to the following students who finished in the placings for their race;

Car Parking

Can I once again please ask all families to please read through the following information and follow the rules that are in place.

  • Under no circumstances should cars park in the areas highlighted in red crosses at the end of the day. You are only able to park your car within the clearly marked white lines. These white lines are there because they are safe areas to park, the other areas are not.
  • When Roberta (our amazing crossing supervisor) is away, occasionally her replacement will forget to place the big orange witches hats at the driveway entrance to block access to the drive through. We aim to have the cones out at 3:00pm. Whether the cones are out or not,  it is really important that cars do not drive into our drive through area between 3:15pm and 3:30pm.As you are aware, students are exiting the school during this period and it is not safe for cars to be driving directly into the exit area.

Camino de Santiago

At the end of Term Three, I am privileged to have the opportunity to travel to Spain with a number of other Catholic school principals from the Peninsula Network. We will be walking a section of the Camino pilgrimage walk. The dates for the pilgrimage are September 4 - September 15. We will be walking from Sarria to Santiago de Compostela (127 kilometres) over  twelve days as part of our personal and spiritual development and our professional learning. I hope to share my journey with the staff, students and the  school community during my time away and on my return. I will return to school for the commencement of Term Four.

School Closure Day

There will be a school closure day on Friday 9th June, leading into the King's Birthday long weekend.

School will resume after this long weekend on Tuesday 13th June.

Have a fantastic weekend everyone and make sure that all our wonderful mums get spoilt rotten!
