Courage, Faith, Love

Dear Parents and Friends of St Agatha's Primary School,

Living the Gospel – Servant of all (written by Greg Sunter)
When Jesus washes the feet of his disciples, at one level he is simply observing one of the rules of hospitality. It was an obligation on a host to provide water for guests to wash the dust and dirt from their feet. Jesus goes one step further and actually washes their feet himself – in effect, he assumes the role of a household servant. Small acts of kindness and service for another person honour that person and demonstrate our respect for them. When we perform such acts we are being Christ-like ourselves but we are also acknowledging Christ’s presence in the other.

This week we observed Holy Week in the lead up to Easter. For Catholics, Holy Week and Easter is a very special time. It is a time to reflect on what it is to be human and how to live in communion with others. Well done to the students for their reverence as they participated beautifully in the prayerful liturgies held throughout the week.

It has been a wonderful first term and I would like to take this opportunity to congratulate all the students for a great term of learning! Thank you to all the staff for their passion and commitment to teaching and assisting the students in so many ways. Thank you to the parents for partnering with us! I know Term Two is going to be another busy but fulfilling term!

This Tuesday we had the Easter Raffle. Please read the STAC Group News page to find out how much money was raised. Thank you to Nicole, Mary, Michelle and all the mums who worked so hard to make this event a success. Our next parent event is the Mother's Day stall and Mother's Day breakfast.

Later in the year, World Youth Day will be hosted in Portugal. One of our staff - Elizabeth Lupeamanu is attending this event as a representative of the St Agatha's Parish. Liz is required to raise $6,000 to go and would appreciate any donations. Attached is her letter with details on how to donate.

I wish you all a safe and holy Easter and look forward to seeing you all return on Thursday April 27.

Please enjoy reading this message from Bishop Greg.
