P.E.
This week in P.E.
THE FIRST FEW WEEKS:
While I was away, all students learnt some important skipping skills. Some students found this more challenging while others picked it up quite easily. If you have a skipping rope at home, feel free to show off your skills. It is such a great skill to have and really gets your heart rate pumping. The 5/6s also did a lesson on Boxercise.
CROSS COUNTRY:
Congratulations to all those students who participated in District Cross Country last week. There were many schools competing and Monty came 2nd overall! Go team Monty! We are so proud of you. Wishing all those students who made it to Division on June the 1st the very best of luck.
BASEBALL:
We completed our final week of the Baseball clinic this week. We are so thankful to Bea and Zac from Research/Lower Plenty Baseball Club for coming out and teaching us so many new baseball skills including pitching, fielding, batting, base recognition and the rules. The students have come so far and have learnt the fundamental skills to play a game of baseball. If you are interested in playing the sport outside of school, contact Research/Lower Plenty Baseball Club for more information.
INTERSCHOOL SPORT:
A big thank you to all the Year 5/6 teachers for all your hard work with Interschool Sport each Friday. The students have shown fantastic enthusiasm each week and we are so proud of your efforts. Next Friday, the 26th of May is a Curriculum Day and therefore it will be a 'bye' round for all teams. An extra thank you to Mr Mitch for all his work with Interschool Sport organisation.
SKILLS:
The Year 1&2 students have been focusing on throwing and catching skills this week. We participated in several rotations with the main focus on throwing. We used all different shapes and sizes; bean bags, textured balls, small tennis balls, large cricket balls and frisbees.
WALK TO SCHOOL:
Just a gentle reminder that this Friday, the 19th of May is WALK SAFELY TO SCHOOL DAY!
