Japanese

We had a lot of fun on our first Japanese Day in Week 2! The students enjoyed their Japanese activities as well as their own classroom literacy work focusing on Japan or Japanese culture. Students said they particularly loved the Sumo match – especially when the principal got involved, and won! The students requested another Japanese Day in the future, so the Japanese Language leaders have started planning for next year. Special thanks to our Japanese Language leaders and wonderful parent volunteers for their help preparing and organising the day.

YR1 students have been learning some vocabulary around fruit and combining this with sentences such as "I love…" and "I’d like …” in Japanese. It is wonderful to see them using the language in a real life context by talking about what they like eating during morning tea or telling me what their favourite fruit is in Japanese. Keep up the great work YR1!
