Saint Francis Xavier - Principal's Report

Term 2 - Week 1

Dear Parents and Friends of St Francis Xavier,

Welcome back to Term Two! I trust you all made the most of the beautiful weather in the precious time that families can spend together over the Easter season. It has been wonderful to see so many families at school ready to help their children embrace new learning opportunities, new challenges and new friendships in this new term.

School Cross Country

We will be holding our whole school Cross Country event on Tuesday 9th May, across the road on the Beauty Park running track.

The races will commence at 1:50pm and will conclude by 3:05pm.

Race distances will be as follows;

Prep - Grade 2           1 Lap of the Running Track (approx. 700m)

Grade 3 - Grade 6     2 Laps of the Running Track

Parents are welcome and encouraged to come and cheer on the students as they race. Students should wear their PE uniform on this day. We will use the results of the Grade 3-6 races to select our District Cross Country team who will compete the following week at Woodleigh.

Medical Forms

For any families who require school staff to administer medication to your child at school, Melbourne Archdiocese Catholic Schools has developed a new Medication Authority Form that you will need to complete. This form is required for all types of medication, including asthma puffers, anti-histamines, skin creams, eye drops, anti-biotics and pretty much anything else you can think of.

It is no longer possible for the school to accept a hand-written note from parents/guardians.

If your child does require medication throughout the day, you can complete the form below or contact the office and a form can be emailed to you.

For students who currently have medication that is being taken at school, we will be contacting you over the coming weeks to ask for you to complete one of these new forms. Thank you so much for your understanding.

School Closure Days - Term 2

There will be two school closure days in Term 2 at S.F.X. As communicated throughout last term, the first of these school closure days is next Friday.

Could I ask all families to put the following two dates in your diaries as there will be no students at school on these days.

  • Friday 5th May
  • Friday 9th June (The Friday before the King's Birthday Public Holiday)

School Uniform

From the beginning of Week 4, all students should be wearing their full Winter Uniform. The exception to the Winter Uniform which the school allows is that if any student wishes to continue wearing shorts throughout the year, that is fine.

A few very important reminders ;

  • No hoodies/casual windcheaters can be worn at school. On cold days, students should wear the school jumper and can wear a coat or jacket over the top of their school jumper.
  • Navy socks/tights are worn with the winter uniform. White socks can be worn with the sports uniform. Socks should never have logos or writing on them.
  • All Students are permitted to wear trousers, leggings are not permitted
  • School shoes should be 100% black and worn every day that there is no Physical Education class.
  • If a child wishes to wear a beanie at school, there are school beanies available to be purchased from the uniform shop for $18.
  • Plain stud earrings and sleepers worn in the ears, plus watches, are the only acceptable jewellery that can be worn to school. Chains can only be worn around the neck if they are for religious reasons or otherwise approved by the Principal. Chains should always be worn under the school uniform.

Welcome

This term we warmly welcome into our school community one new student and one past student, who has returned to S.F.X.

  • Leon (Grade 6) - Welcome back Leon!
  • Selina (Grade 1/2T)

Leon and Selina have both made fantastic starts and we wish them all the very best during their time here at S.F.X.

Prep Enrolments 2024

Now is the time to enrol your four or five year old to start Prep at St Francis Xavier in 2024. If you need an enrolment form, please contact the staff in our school office as soon as possible. If you know someone who is looking for a school for their child, why not suggest St Francis Xavier as a great school to consider? I am always happy to take prospective families on a personal school tour.

Exciting News

Finally, I have some exciting news to share with you.

The amazing Ms Renee and Paddy are happy to announce they are expecting their second baby later this year. We are extremely happy for them both and wish them nothing but health and happiness over the coming months and beyond.

Have a fantastic weekend everyone.
