Principals Report

Rohan Cooper

Welcome back to school for Term 2, I hope everyone had a safe and enjoyable school holiday period. It has been wonderful to see our students return in such a positive manner and I know they are all enjoying learning and being back amongst their friends.

Our School Council President, Gareth Lewis, shared news of my appointment as the Executive Principal of Caulfield South Primary School, effective Monday 8th May, with the community late last week. I would like to thank our students, staff and families for the kind words they have shared with me since the announcement. I feel both a sense of excitement for the new opportunity ahead and sincere sadness to be leaving our students, staff and families. I am incredibly proud of what we have achieved as a school across the past three years and know that the school is in an excellent position to continue to thrive into the future. I will pen some more detailed words and thanks to everyone before my final day on Friday 5th May.

Whilst this appointment has unfolded, the Department of Education (DE) has been working to appoint an Acting Principal for Term 2, as well as preparing the school to advertise for a substantive Principal for Term 3. We will keep you up to date with developments as they arise.

On Tuesday I had the privilege to join our community at the annual ANZAC Day Ceremony in Port Melbourne. Thank you to Maria Chadwick and our School Choir, who performed to the community at the event, and to our student leaders Hanon, Eden and Lola, who presented a wreath on behalf of the school. This event, as much as any other, makes me incredibly ‘Proud to be at Port’.

Our school vision continues to be ‘front and center’ of everything that we do. Over the school holidays, engraved plaques with, ‘Proud to be at Port. Excellence. Collaboration. Community.’ were displayed in every classroom space, ensuring the visibility of our vision to students and staff at all times.
