Principal's Report

Report from our Principal: Duncan Arendse

Dear Parents, Friends and Father Arsenio,

This term we welcome back our Deputy, Judy Smith from long service leave. Liz Bell will shift into the literacy intervention role and Katherine D'Aloisio will return to her class.

It is hard to believe it but I am already working on enrolments for next year.  We have 32 siblings scheduled to attend and over 50 new families have attended a school tour.  Please make sure that you have spoken to anyone who is thinking about a prep enrolment for next year. as I am about to begin interviewing prospective enrolrolments and offering places for 2024. I would like to conclude the entire enrolment process within the next six weeks.

We are currently investigating the establishment of a 3YO play group. An existing parent has some experience in running an art-based group. It will be offered to the neighbouring kinders as well as our own community. It will be great to utilize the Little Spirits room in the Parish House again. Watch out for further information in relation to this initiative in the coming weeks.

We are still without a Japanese teacher. It is proving to be problematic in offering a language other than English (LOTE).  I am working with the Principal at Aquinas to try and solve this.  In the meantime we will continue to run our  STEM program.

Please remember that the P&F are running a Mother's Day stall next week as well as a Breakfast in the morning (12/5).  My thanks to the five Dads who have volunteered to assist.

The Winter Shelter will run again this year in our hall.  If you are unfamiliar with it please see the notice that went on Dojo yesterday. It is a most worthwhile cause.

Have a good fortnight,

Duncan
