ASC Open Boys Soccer...

In the open boys soccer, Armidale Secondary College travelled to Inverell to play Inverell High School in the Combined High School's Knockout. In a very tight game ASC came out on top. A long range strike from Noah Hamilton (yr 12) in the last 5 minutes was the difference.

Thank you to Inverell High School for hosting.

ASC North West Touch...

We had a great day in Tamworth at the NW Touch competition. We won 2 out of 4 games and made the semi-finals. The year 7 & 8 boys played well with great sportsmanship and skill.

Thanks to Jaiden for his coaching skills and making sure everyone enjoyed the day.

ASC U18's CHS Rugby Union

Four of our students and one teacher from ASC have been at the u18's CHS Rugby Union. Jason Walker as coach and yr 11 students Dallas Kelly (outside centre) , Jack Mcleod (Lock) , Henry Blackwell (Breakaway) and Cooper Collins.

All boys contributed in an outstanding manner to their team's 3rd place in the state which included victories over Riverina , South Coast, Hunter and Sydney West School zones. Henry , Dallas and Jack each picked up an MVP award in one of their five games.

Well done ASC boys.

Congratulations to our Year 7 and Year 8 Da Vinci Decathlon teams

It was a day of challenge and team work with our wonderful Year 8's coming 3rd overall.

We are delighted to let our wonderful community know that our Year 7 team came 1st in English, Code Breaking, Ideation and Mathematics taking out 1st place overall in Year 7.

Well done students!

We are very proud of you all.

The Da Vinci Decathlon

Leonardo da Vinci (1452-1519) was one of the world’s greatest thinkers and scholars. Da Vinci demonstrated an ability to perceive the interconnected nature of knowledge and embraced learning with a lifelong passion and determination to uncover the unknown. The Da Vinci Decathlon is an academic competition that places an emphasis on higher order thinking skills, problem solving and creativity designed to challenge and stimulate the minds of school students.

Students work collaboratively in teams and are highly stimulated by competing in tasks that encompass Engineering, Mathematics, Ideation, Code Breaking, Drama, Art and Poetry, Science, English, Cartography and General Knowledge. There is a need, therefore, for a well-balanced team with students whose abilities complement rather than replicate each other. This competition is a prestigious event that is contested with a high level of academic rigor and excitement. It is also an excellent opportunity for our students to test their abilities amongst a range of public and private schools and to meet likeminded students from across this New England region.

Our teams certainly made us very proud and achieved wins in many of the categories, with Year 7 and Year 9 winning the regional competition and proceeding to the finals which will be held in Sydney later this year. Thank you to Mrs Dinusha Wijewickrama and Mr Jamie Suddaby for all of their organisation and support for this competition, without our teachers giving up their time to organise and attend these events, they wouldn’t happen. Lastly, congratulations to each and every one of our students on their efforts during this competion on Monday 15th May 2023 and Wednesday 17th May 2023.
