School Hats

During Term 2 students are required to wear hats whenever the UV is 3 and above. Staff regularly access the daily sun protection times via the SunSmart app. Please ensure your child still has a school hat at school for the days that it will need to be worn.

Medications

When medications need to be stored in the First Aid room at school, can parents please ensure they personally deliver them to the Front Office. This is to ensure that all medications are stored securely. Thanks for your assistance with this.

Indonesian Day

On Tuesday of Week 2, the school was a sea of red and white as we celebrated Indonesian Day. This was an opportunity for us to celebrate the culture of the country whose language we learn, Indonesia. Students enjoyed learning new Indonesian games and revisiting some familiar ones, as well as sharing in collaborative colouring to create images reflecting Indonesia. Suara Dance, an Indonesian dance group, kept everyone engaged and entertained with an interactive performance of music and dance. It was a wonderful day of celebrating Indonesia!

Warm regards,

Indofest

Indofest is an annual event held in Adelaide celebrating Indonesian culture. This year Indofest is being held on Sunday 21st May from 10am-4pm at Pinky Flat in the Adelaide CBD.

As part of the lead up to Indofest, the Indofest committee is holding a colouring/drawing competition (colouring for ages 6 and under, drawing for ages 7-10). Children in our Foundation - Year 4 classes completed a colouring/drawing as appropriate for their age group during our Indonesian Day celebrations. These were sent home on Tuesday 9th May.

If you wish your child to enter the Indofest colouring/drawing competition, please complete your contact details in the box on the top right hand corner of the sheet, scan or take a picture of it and email it to: indofestadelaide.program@gmail.com by this Sunday 14th May.

If you are free on Sunday 21st May, I encourage you to attend Indofest. It is a wonderful celebration of Indonesian culture and a great way to expose your child/ren to the culture connected to the language they are learning at school.

Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions.

Kind regards,

Kate Tretheway

Indonesian and F/1L Teacher

We would like to acknowledge Kate Tretheway, our Indonesian Teacher, who has been asked to co-present at a workshop run by the Association of Independent Schools in South Australia (AISSA) for Primary Language coordinators as they work to implement the new Australian Curriculum standards in their school. This is great recognition of Kate's expertise with teaching language in a primary school setting.

Congratulations to Ethan Wildman & Ella Fiorito who were married during the school holidays. Next week we will welcome Mr & Mrs Wildman back from their honeymoon.

During the last week of Term 1, Mrs Fallon and our Year 6 students prepared a surprise lunch for staff to celebrate Ethan and Ella's wedding. It was a very fun and special day!

Lunch Box Litter and Nude Food Containers

Our Year 3/4 classes have prepared a video to explain how containers obtained through a recent grant to reduce waste at Pilgrim School can be ordered and collected by Pilgrim families. These can still be ordered and collected from the Year 3/4 classroom temporarily located in our Indonesian classroom.
