Volunteer Interview

Lynette Schroen

Why do you volunteer at BNPS?

There are many reasons I like to volunteer at BNPS but mostly to feel a sense of connection and a part of the school community. Some of these programs may not happen without the support of volunteers so it’s an easy way for me to contribute in small ways, helping others when I can and feeling involved. It also allows me an opportunity to see what my children do during their ‘school life’ and a lovely way of meeting teachers, staff and other parents.

What year level are your children in?

Lucy is in Year 4. Mia (in Year 9 now), was also at BNPS from Prep to Year 6!

What roles have you volunteered for during your time at BNPS?

I regularly help in the Canteen and have also helped with Class Reps, Literacy Program, Head Hunters Program, Mother’s/Father’s stall, fete day stalls and working bee days.

What is your background/current role (outside of BNPS!)?

I love my role as a Diabetes Nurse Educator at a community health service.

What do you do during your spare time?

I am reminded on my morning walk why I love living by the bay, it’s beautiful in all seasons! I also enjoy reading, going to the theatre, family days out and holidays.

What’s the best thing about BNPS?

My girls have always loved going to school which I believe is a great credit to the welcoming spirit of the whole school community; staff, teachers, parents and friends.
