Primary Co-Curricular

The Primary lacrosse team in action on the field

Primary Co-Curricular Report

Winter has well and truly struck and it has impacted on numbers in some of our teams. Unfortunately Blackfriars had to forfeit a Year 6/7 basketball match and some of our soccer teams have been playing with limited reserves on the bench. Despite the numbers, boys have battled hard and been very competitive in all games.

The Primary A Soccer boys fought out a tough 2-2 draw against Rostrevor on their home pitch. The boys continue to perform well in the top division. The Primary B team came up against Sacred Heart. They went down 0-4 but Mr Niedzwiecki was full of praise for their fighting spirit and willingness to listen to advice. The Year 3/4/5 boys travelled to a very wet and cold Pulteney on Friday, but their soccer was red-hot and they had some solid results.

The Year 6/7 Black basketball team forfeited their match but the blue team had a good win against Cedar. The Year 4/5 boys went down in another tough game but continue to try their best.

The chess team lost 0-4 to Walkerville and unfortunately had to forfeit one table due to a non-arrival. The remaining players tried their best but Walkerville was tactically too good.

The Primary lacrosse team defeated our affiliate team, the Eagles, 15-5 in a very strong display. All players hit the scoreboard which was terrific and the boys courageously took their turn in goals and did a terrific job.

Primary Arts Night

Due to the Primary Arts night next Tuesday 26 June, there will be no training for the Primary Soccer or Lacrosse teams.

The Year 4/5 Basketball game at 4:40pm will continue as scheduled.

Catholic Schools Athletics

The Primary Athletics team competed in the Catholic Schools Athletics Carnival at Santos Stadium on Tuesday 19 June. A team of 24 athletes performed very well and won the boys event in Section 3 of the Carnival. This was an outstanding effort from the group! The U11s and U13 age groups won the pennant for the Age Championships. Please see a separate article about the event.
